We love celebrating birthdays at Plainfield! However, because food allergies are affecting so many children nowadays, we have decided to cut down on sugary treats at school. This means that we will celebrate your child’s special day in other ways. Here’s what we do in my classroom:
On the day of your child’s birthday, he or she will receive a free book and pencil from the principal and a birthday crown and small gift from me. The children will have the opportunity to pick free time, play a class game or go outside for an extra recess if the weather is nice.
PARENTS CAN HELP!
Instead of sugary food items, parents can:
*Bring each child a goody such as pencils, erasers, notepads, etc.
*Bring in something that all the kids can sign as a birthday treat for the birthday kid (shirt/sweatshirt, tote bag, autograph stuffed animal, pillow case, etc.).
